Stanley Sweeping

About Stanley Sweeping

A college town keeps a remarkable amount of pavement — the lots behind Main Street, apartment drives, the long aprons off Route 222. Stanley Sweeping takes those over in winter, plowing them end to end, opening walks and curb cuts, spreading salt where the sun never reaches. Kutztown storms have a habit of arriving Sunday night and needing to be gone by the Monday commute, which sets the hours for everybody. Empty pavement in the blue hour before anyone is awake, windrows stacked neat against the curbs — that is the shift done right. Snow removal, with nothing left for the morning to guess at.
