About Mountain-Valley

The name says it plainly. Ridges on one side, hollows on the other, and the road between them holding snow long after the sun has gone off it. Mountain-Valley plows and shovels through Jones township, from the water behind the East Branch dam out to the scattered homes and camps along the township roads. Snow here does not so much fall as accumulate, quietly, for days at a stretch, and ice takes hold anywhere meltwater crosses a grade. Salting the bad corners and opening a lane wide enough to turn a truck around in is the whole ambition, and on a January morning that is more than enough.
