There is a last cut every year in Indiana — a bright cold Saturday near the end of October when the grass finally gives up and the yard goes quiet until April. Last Lawn works the whole long run toward it: mowing week after week through the green months, keeping the edges honest, blowing the walks clear on the way out. Autumn brings the leaves, and a town this full of old maples produces a great many of them, hauled off the turf load by load. When the ground dries in spring the cleanup picks the year right back up where it left off. A cut lawn is a small thing that makes a whole street look tended.
