About Al's Landscaping

Philadelphia Street wakes in stages — the sidewalk lamps first, then the storefronts, then the whole downtown block coming on at once. Al's Landscaping keeps two calendars for a county seat like Indiana: one for grass and one for snow. From April on it is mowing lines laid straight across yards from the courthouse blocks out to the ridge roads, edges trimmed close to the walk, clippings swept off before the truck leaves. By December it is plow and shovel, drives cut open and treated while the sky over the plateau is still the color of slate. Same houses, same care; only the tool in hand changes.
