Borough Lawn

About Borough Lawn

Hollidaysburg is a borough of straight blocks and deep porches, where the courthouse dome shows above the maples on Allegheny Street and a front yard is measured in a few good passes. Borough Lawn keeps those in-town lots — mowing, trimming, edging along brick walks and iron fences, and clearing the clippings so nothing is left behind but the smell of cut grass. Small yards ask for a light hand and a straight line, and both are the point. On a summer evening the light comes in sideways here, and a freshly edged strip of turf looks like it was drawn on. The rounds run through the borough streets and across the water into Gaysport and Duncansville.
