Linglestown Lawn and Plow

About Linglestown Lawn and Plow

Linglestown still turns around its square, a small circle of green with the village built outward from it in every direction. Linglestown Lawn and Plow works the drives and lots around that center and out through the townships beyond — plowing, clearing walkways, and spreading salt on the aprons and approaches where ice sets up hard overnight. A village route is a route of neighbors: you learn which drive holds water, which one the wind loads up, and which one has to be open by five for somebody's shift. Nothing about the result is abstract — the car backs out, the mail comes through, the day happens the way it was supposed to. Snow keeps coming down over the hills north of the village, and the plow keeps heading back out.
