Drive north out of Harrisburg on Front Street and the sycamores lean over the road, silver-barked and enormous, with the Susquehanna running wide and shallow past Fort Hunter. Daniel J Reed Landscape works the yards along that corridor and back through the city all year: mowing, trimming and edging in the warm months, leaf cleanups when the sycamores let go, and plowing, shoveling and salting once the road turns white. A river-valley lawn asks for different things in June than it does in September, and part of the craft is simply noticing which month it is. In winter the same properties get the other half of the job — drives opened wide, walks cleared to the step, ice treated before it can take hold overnight. Two kinds of work, one standard: leave the place looking like someone is paying attention to it.
