Flourtown took its name from the mills that once ground grain beside the Wissahickon, and the creek still runs cold through the valley below the pike. Backyard Eats works the yards above it — mowing and trimming, edging beds, keeping plantings tidy from the first warm week to the last. Spring comes on fast here under the old shade trees, and the first cut of the year always feels like an announcement. Cleanups bracket the calendar: winter debris out in March, leaves off in November. A backyard that's kept well is a backyard people actually sit in, and that's the whole aim.
