Stripes of Green

About Stripes of Green

A mown lawn holds light two ways, and that is the whole idea behind the name. Stripes of Green cuts through Fleetwood in the long stretch of midsummer, laying alternating bands across a yard so the sun catches one row and slips off the next. Along with the mowing there's trimming, edging, bed care, and the cleanups that bracket the growing months at either end. Evening is the hour to look at the results, when the sun drops toward the Berks ridgelines and the pattern rises out of the grass like weave in cloth. Then it grows back, and the whole thing begins again next week.
