Burns Tree & Lawn

About Burns Tree & Lawn

Winter mornings above Felton come up blue and slow, with frost on the fence wire and the ridge roads still holding the night. Burns Tree & Lawn is out in that hour, plowing the long farm lanes and the short borough driveways alike, then shoveling and salting the walk to the porch step so the day can start on time. Come summer the same roads smell of cut grass, and the work turns to mowing, trimming, and edging through the York County heat. Rain runs off these hills toward the Susquehanna and the turf comes back thick, so the mowing here is a long, steady season. Autumn is leaves out of the hollows behind the houses and yards put to bed. It is plain work, and it shows on the ground when it is done right.
