About Karp Excavating, Ltd.

Factoryville sits up in the Endless Mountains where the road climbs out of the Lackawanna valley, and winter here arrives early, stays late and does nothing by halves. Karp Excavating, Ltd. plows that country — driveways off Route 6 and the back roads above it, farm lanes, business lots, and the steep approaches that go slick before anything else does. Snow gets pushed back far enough to leave room for the next storm, walks are cleared, and salt or grit goes wherever the grade demands it. On this ridge a foot of snow is a Tuesday, and the trucks are built for that arithmetic. When the plowing is finished the drive is wide, the turnaround is real, and the day can finally start.
