Ephrata Agway

About Ephrata Agway

The ground under Lancaster County is limestone, sweet and forgiving, and in April it wakes up faster than most people expect. Ephrata Agway looks after lawns around the borough as that turn happens — mowing once the first flush of growth arrives, trimming the edges back, clearing away whatever winter scattered across the yard. Spring here is a run of small green announcements: the maples on the side streets first, then the lawns, then the fields past the edge of town all at once. There is genuine pleasure in the first cut of the year, when a shaggy yard turns crisp in a single afternoon and the whole street looks a season younger. The work reaches Ephrata and its neighbors in Akron, Clay, Lincoln and Reamstown.
