Emporium Rail Yard

About Emporium Rail Yard

Emporium sits in a narrow green trough where the Driftwood Branch works its way between forested ridges, and the light arrives late and leaves early. Emporium Rail Yard mows that valley floor — the yards along the creek, the sloped strips behind the borough streets, the long lots that run back toward the treeline. Summer here is short and green and generous, so a cut lawn with a trimmed border reads like an event. Elk country begins where the mowing stops, and there is something good about that boundary: tended grass on one side, state forest on the other. Come October the leaves come down all at once off the ridge, and the cleanup is straightforward and satisfying — clear it, edge it, and the place looks like somebody loves it.
