About DirtWorks by Johnston

Snow comes over the Allegheny Front and finds East Freedom sitting right in its path, and Blair County winters do not negotiate. DirtWorks by Johnston meets them with a blade — driveways plowed open, lots cleared and stacked out of the way, walkways shoveled and salted so ice never gets a grip. The valley roads between Claysburg and Duncansville drift wherever the wind comes down off the ridges. There is a good hour, somewhere around five in the morning, when the plow has been through and the pavement is dark and wet and the day is still entirely possible. That hour is the point of the whole job.
