Duryea sits at the meeting of the Lackawanna and the Susquehanna, on flat river ground that grows grass fast once July heat sets in. Sweeney's Lawn and Garden keeps up with it — mowing on a regular turn, trimming the fence lines and foundations, edging the walks, and tending garden beds so they stay defined instead of drifting into the lawn. Midsummer evenings down on the flats run long and still, and a yard cut that afternoon holds its lines right through to dusk.
