The Appalachian Trail drops off Cove Mountain right into Duncannon, past Hawk Rock and down onto the borough streets, and in winter that whole descent goes white and silent. Green Willow Landscapes works the season underneath it, plowing drives, clearing lots and shoveling the walks that keep a small river town moving. Storms coming up the Susquehanna can turn from rain to snow in the space of an hour here, so the night is spent watching as much as driving.
