The Ironton Rail Trail threads through Coplay on an old industrial bed, and the back yards that meet it catch a long slant of afternoon light. Al's Lawn Sharks keeps those yards mowed and trimmed, edges pulled tight against drive and sidewalk, clippings gathered instead of left to yellow in the sun. Cleanups bookend the year — spring, to lift the winter mat off the turf; fall, to move the leaf drop before the rains pack it flat. What makes a lawn look finished is rarely the cutting; it is the ten minutes after. Coplay, Whitehall, Egypt and the streets running down toward Catasauqua are all within easy reach.
