Holgate’s Heroes

About Holgate’s Heroes

Winter in Clarks Summit announces itself on the hills: the climb out of the valley glazes over first, and by midnight the plow lights are the only color on the road. Holgate's Heroes runs snow work only — plowing driveways and lots, clearing walks and steps, salting and sanding the slick patches that form where wind funnels between houses. The hours suit the name; nobody calls at two in the morning about anything pleasant. What they leave behind is simple and complete: bare pavement, a clean path to the door, room to turn around before the school buses run. They cover Clarks Summit and the surrounding Abington communities, from Chinchilla up toward Factoryville.
