East of Chambersburg the land tilts up toward the ridge in rows of peach and apple trees, and by late July the whole county smells faintly of fruit warming in the sun. T&H Landscaping keeps the grass side of that landscape, mowing on a rhythm that suits a Franklin County summer, working the trimmer out around posts, trunks and bed lines, edging drives and walks until the boundary is sharp enough to see from the porch. Heat sits down in the valley and stays, thunderheads pile over South Mountain most afternoons, and a lawn can go from scorched to surging inside a week. Reading that, and cutting to it, is most of the craft. Then October arrives, the leaves come down, the beds get cleared, and everything is raked back to a clean start.
