About Affordable Excavating and Hauling, Inc.

Three in the morning in the Cumberland Valley has a particular silence, and it breaks with the sound of a plow blade dropping. Affordable Excavating and Hauling, Inc. works the Chambersburg dark, pushing snow off driveways and lots while the Molly Pitcher Highway is still one long unbroken ribbon of white. There is real pride in the geometry of it — banks stacked where they will not slide back, corners cut square, salt laid down before the first commuter turns a key. By the time the sky over the fields north of town goes that gray-blue color, the work reads as an ordinary morning, which is the whole intention. Storms here come up the valley without asking permission; the answer is simply to be out ahead of them.
