J & E Lawnscapes

About J & E Lawnscapes

Four in the morning on Baltimore Pike, snow still falling sideways in the headlights, and the hills of Chadds Ford have turned every side street into a decision. J & E Lawnscapes is out in it, blade down, working the drives and lots so the first commuters find pavement instead of a guess. The satisfaction is in the finish: a squared-off corner at the mailbox, a walk shoveled to the concrete, salt worked into the shaded stretch where ice always makes its stand. This is country that slopes toward the creek at nearly every address, which makes clearing it a matter of angles as much as horsepower. By sunrise the trucks are quiet again and the town simply goes to work, which is the whole idea.
