About South Middleton Township Compost Site

South Middleton Township runs south of Carlisle toward Boiling Springs, where the Yellow Breeches slides past under a mist that never quite lifts in February. Winter arrives sideways down there, half rain and half snow, and freezes to whatever it lands on by nightfall. South Middleton Township Compost Site handles snow removal through that stretch — clearing the drive and the yard, opening the approaches, keeping the traffic lanes down to pavement instead of ruts. It is unglamorous work with an obvious result: gates that swing, a turnaround that turns, a way in and out that holds up when the temperature drops again after dark. Around here that counts for a great deal.
