A Brand New Engine

About A Brand New Engine

Four in the morning, and the light at the Square is still blinking yellow over an empty High Street. A Brand New Engine likes those hours — plowing driveways and lots while Carlisle is blue with cold, then salting the walks so the first person out the door meets bare pavement instead of glaze. Come June the work turns green: mowing, edging along the curb line, string-trimming the corners a mower cannot reach, and clearing away what the season drops. Two opposite jobs, one purpose — a property that looks looked-after in January and in July alike. Carlisle is home base, and the valley towns around it are the rest of the route.
