Brumbaugh's Lawn Service & Snow Removal

About Brumbaugh's Lawn Service & Snow Removal

There is an hour in a Carbondale winter when the streetlights are still the only light on Belmont Street, and that is when Brumbaugh's Lawn Service & Snow Removal is already out. Plowing, salting and shoveling here means reading a hillside city — the pitch of Powderly Hill, the way a driveway on a grade holds ice long after the flat blocks have let go. Come thaw, the same routes turn green and the work becomes mowing, trimming, edging and cleanups, week after week, until the yards along the valley look tended from the sidewalk. Pride shows up small: a walkway scraped down to bare concrete, a lawn edge that runs true past the mailbox. The reward is a neighbor opening the door to a clear path and nothing left to think about.
