Greener Grasses

About Greener Grasses

Van Sciver Lake was dug before it was ever filled — sand-and-gravel country that ended up as open water on Bristol Township's flank, wide enough to change the weather passing over it. Greener Grasses works the grass side of that landscape: mowing on a schedule, trimming around posts and pavement, edging that draws the line between kept and unkept. A lawn caught at the right height, thick enough to spring back underfoot, is the thing worth chasing. Thunderheads build over this end of Bucks County on August evenings, and the work gets finished before they arrive. Every yard has its own grain; the point is to find it and cut with it.
