Long's Property Maintenance & Well Pump

About Long's Property Maintenance & Well Pump

Late September along the ridge roads is goldenrod and low slanting light, the fields cut and the evenings arriving earlier every week. Long's Property Maintenance & Well Pump keeps properties through it — mowing while the grass still runs, trimming tight to barn walls and mailbox posts, putting an edge on the lane and the front walk, and clearing leaves and beds as the trees above the river begin to turn. Out here a single place can be a lawn, a lane, a bank and a stretch of rough all at once, and making all of it look tended is the actual job. Frost will end the mowing soon enough; until it does, the route runs every week without a gap. A property finished at the end of the day, edges sharp and everything picked up, is worth the drive out to reach it.
