About Jake's Property Maintenance

Late in a Bloomfield township afternoon the light comes low across the hayfields and every blade of grass throws its own small shadow. That is the hour Jake's Property Maintenance likes best, when a finished lawn shows all of its lines — the mowing stripes running true, the edge cut clean along the walk, the clippings blown back off the drive. Work here means township roads and long gravel lanes, yards that run out to a wood line, hollows where the fog settles first and lifts last. Mowing, trimming, edging and seasonal cleanups get done the same careful way on a half-acre as on a place that takes the whole morning. There is real pleasure in stepping back at the gate and seeing a yard that looks cared for all the way from the road.
