Operation Green Lawn

About Operation Green Lawn

Bird in Hand sits in a landscape of working farms, and along the Old Philadelphia Pike the fields run right up to the edge of the yards. Operation Green Lawn keeps those yards in trim — mowing on a steady rotation, string trimming around posts and beds, edging the walks so the line is clean enough to notice from the road. Lancaster County limestone ground grows grass thick and fast, and staying ahead of it from April into November is mostly a matter of never falling behind in the first place. The reward is a lawn that reads well against all that open farmland, stripes running out to the fence and not a clipping left on the concrete. Simple work, carried all the way through.
