Carper Connections

About Carper Connections

Autumn on the ridge above Bentleyville turns the whole valley rust and gold, with the highway humming faintly somewhere below the tree line. Carper Connections works those weeks hard — mowing while the growth still has something left in it, then turning to the leaf cleanups that come off the hardwoods in one long fortnight. Southwestern Pennsylvania yards sit between woods and hayfield, so the job is holding a clear boundary: grass cut to an even height, the trimmer run along the fence rows, the beds edged so the line doesn't blur into the meadow. There's a plain pleasure in a lawn finished before dusk in late October, the clippings gone and the ground swept, the whole place looking ready for the cold. Lawn care for Bentleyville and the neighboring hill towns, done at the pace the season sets.
