Lawn Patrol

About Lawn Patrol

Baldwin wakes up in tiers — the houses on the hill first, then the ones down toward Streets Run where the cold pools. Lawn Patrol is out ahead of all of it in winter, plowing driveways and scraping the concrete steps that climb from the sidewalk to half the front doors in the borough. Steps and landings are the part most people dread, so they get shoveled down clean and salted, not just cleared enough to pass. Lots and aprons come next, opened wide enough that the next storm has somewhere to go. Circling back at dusk to check the route is not extra; on these hills it is simply what the job takes.
