Utopia Scapes

About Utopia Scapes

There is an hour after a storm passes when Avondale is perfectly still — fields smoothed over, the sycamores loaded, everything blue before sunrise. Utopia Scapes spends that hour working, because stillness is easier to admire from a driveway that is already clear. They plow, they shovel the steps and the mailbox approach, they cut through the ridge the road crew left across the end of the drive. Salt goes down where the sun will not reach, on the north side of the house and under the hedgerow. It is a small kindness with a machine attached, repeated all winter across the Avondale countryside.
