The name belongs to the growing season, and in Bradford County the growing season is something you wait on. Randy's Greenhouse serves Athens and the Valley towns around it through the mowing months — weekly cuts, trimming, edging, cleanups in spring and again when the last leaves come off the riverbank. Then the ground closes, the Susquehanna turns slate, and the work becomes plowing and ice control on drives and walks across borough and township alike. There is a particular satisfaction in the January morning when a property is open and safe before anyone is awake to notice it. And another kind entirely in May, standing at the end of the first real cut of the year with everything level and green again.
