About Plantique, Inc.

Cedar Crest Boulevard in January is a corridor of dark hemlock and bare oak, everything green gone underground to wait out the cold. Plantique, Inc. works that dormant half of the year, when the only thing growing on a property is the drift across its driveway. Plowing, shoveling and salting are the tools, and the results are measured in openings: an entrance cleared to pavement, a walk safe underfoot, a lot ready before anyone arrives to use it. Storms out here arrive with wind behind them, so what was cleared at midnight often wants a second pass at five. The garden sleeps; the work does not.
