About ASRE

West of Allentown, where I-78 runs its long line past the valley's loading docks, winter shows up on the wind before it shows up on the radio. ASRE works the hours nobody sees — plow lights swinging across an empty apron at three in the morning, salt going down while the sky is still the color of slate. The work is plowing drives and lots, clearing walks and steps by hand, and de-icing until the pavement reads black again. There is a particular satisfaction in a lot finished before the first car turns in: no ruts, no shelf of ice at the curb cut, just clean surface and a place that can open on time. Allentown has always run on early shifts, and this is one of them.
