Mac & Trees

About Mac & Trees

North of McMinnville the hazelnut rows run straight to the horizon, and in October the harvest kicks a fine pale dust into the light that hangs there all afternoon. Mac & Trees mows the lawns that sit at the ends of those rows — farmhouse yards, roadside frontages, the green squares that orchards frame on three sides. Autumn grass here grows slow and thick, so the cut is set high and taken often, and the leaf litter comes off before the rain mats it down. Trimming tightens the corners the mower cannot reach, and the edges get drawn back to a line. When the dust settles at dusk, the lawn is the one thing on the property that looks freshly combed.
