A Mom & Her Boy

About A Mom & Her Boy

Lebanon smells like strawberries in June, when the whole town turns out for the festival and the shortcake line stretches down the block. It is also the month grass grows fastest, which is why a mother-and-son outfit is out early, working a route of yards while the morning is still cool. Mowing, string trimming, edging along the sidewalks, and a full sweep-up before the truck pulls away — nothing complicated, just done the same careful way each visit. Spring and fall cleanups fill in the ends of the year, when the maples in the older neighborhoods let go all at once. Small operation, small town, and a stack of lawns that look better at five o'clock than they did at nine.
