Late spring in the Applegate country south of Grants Pass, the oaks leaf out slowly, the madrones shed their red bark in curls, and everything green happens in a hurry before the heat arrives. Woodstream Landscaping works those weeks hard, mowing, edging, running the string trimmer into the awkward corners a mower can never quite reach, then hauling off the clippings and whatever leaf litter the winter left behind. A yard in this valley in June wants a rhythm to it: cut high enough that the grass shades its own roots, keep the borders honest, come back before the whole thing gets away from you. There is a real satisfaction in the last pass of the day, when the lines all lie down in one direction and the driveway edge reads like a line someone drew on purpose. They keep to that rhythm out along the valley roads, week after week, while the hills go from green to gold above them.
