The valley here dries hard and fast, so the work is as much about restraint in summer as it is about tidiness. Toward Wilderville and Murphy the properties spread out and the wind carries dust, which only makes a swept walkway more satisfying. Evening comes late in that season, and the yards are done long before it does.
