In March the trails at Mount Pisgah are all mud and new green, and below the summit the Coast Fork meets the Middle Fork like the valley letting out a long breath. Tender Earth Yard Care starts its year right about then — spring cleanup, dethatching, aeration, overseeding, and the first mows once the ground is firm enough to take a wheel. Eugene lawns come out of winter matted and mossy, and the patient work of March is the only reason they look like anything at all in June. From there, weekly mowing, edging and trimming carry the yard forward. Beginning well is most of it.
