About 503 Maintenance LLC

Cornelius lies low on the valley floor with the freight line running straight through the middle of it, and in late summer the light comes sideways over the highway around seven in the evening, gold on everything still standing. 503 Maintenance LLC is out in that light more often than not — the last lawn of the day, mower running, the shadow of the trimmer stretched halfway across the grass. Mowing, string trimming, edging, clippings carried off: plain work done in order, on the same day each week, so a property never has to be rescued. The route runs the flat valley from town out toward Forest Grove and back east toward Hillsboro, the same streets in the same rhythm. There is a real satisfaction in the final pass, when the stripes line up and the curb line runs straight from one end of the lot to the other.
