Bush Doctor Lawn and Garden

About Bush Doctor Lawn and Garden

Main Street runs a handful of blocks and then Carlton hands itself back to farmland, the old rail grade cutting off through the grass toward the hills. Bush Doctor Lawn and Garden works the yards along those blocks and the drives that trail out past them — mowing, string trimming, edging, and the raking-up a long dry August leaves behind. Late summer light in this town comes in sideways and low, and it is honest about a lawn: every missed corner, every ragged edge. So the corners get cut. There is a plain kind of satisfaction in walking off a property at dusk with the clippings gone and the border along the sidewalk drawn like a pencil line.
