On a Friday evening in July, the bandstand at Wait Park draws half of downtown Canby onto the grass, and the lawn holds up because somebody mowed it right. Canby Lawn Mowing does the same for the yards a few blocks out — a cut on schedule, an edge that follows the sidewalk instead of wandering off it, trimming tight to the fence line, clippings handled so nothing is left in windrows. The name says the work plainly, and the work stays plain on purpose: show up, cut it even, leave it looking finished. Valley grass grows fastest in May and again in the first weeks of fall rain, and the calendar bends to that instead of the other way around. Homes throughout Canby and over toward Barlow and New Era are on the route.
