About Maverick’s mowing

The last hour of daylight on the plains is generous. Long shadows come off the trees, the west end of the sky goes orange, and everything looks better than it did at noon. Maverick's mowing often saves a yard for that hour, finishing the cut, running the trimmer down the fence, and edging the drive while the light holds. Dusk in Woodward carries a little cool in it, and the sound of a mower travels farther than it has any right to. What gets left behind is even grass, square corners and clear walks, which is not a bad way to close out a day.
