Walkin-H

About Walkin-H

Before the first pull of the cord there is a walk — straight across the yard, eyes down, moving a hose end, a fallen limb, a kid's ball out of the path. Walkin-H starts every Wagoner job that way, and it is why the mowing goes smooth and nothing ends up shredded across the fescue. Then it is the ordinary good work: passes laid even, trimming around the posts and the porch, edges cut back along the concrete, clippings blown off before leaving. Out here the evenings go still enough that you can hear the last pass finish, the prairie quiet coming in behind the engine. A yard walked before it is mowed is a yard that gets mowed right.
