October in the Kiamichi foothills turns the pastures north of Valliant to straw and leaves the yards their last good cuts of the year. Mow Power runs those cuts — mowing, edging along the drive, going in close at the fence corners, and gathering the leaves the first cold front brings down. In summer the same yards are all growth, and the schedule tightens to stay ahead of them. Timber country makes for shaded lawns and thin patches, so the mower's height matters as much as its speed.
