South of Pocola the ground gathers itself into the Ouachita foothills, and yards out that way come with grades, ledges and drainage that has opinions. Hill Country Landscaping works with that shape instead of against it: mowing on the slope, beds cut into the rise, borders that hold mulch where the rain would rather take it. In October the oaks let go all at once, and cleanup becomes a matter of getting ahead of the wind. Come spring the same yards want opening back up, with brush pulled out of the back corners, grass edged along the drive and everything squared away before the heat. A hillside lot can look as tidy as a flat one; it just takes more walking.
