Fantastic Lawn

About Fantastic Lawn

Downtown grass is small and stubborn: a strip beside a Deep Deuce sidewalk, a courtyard a block off the Bricktown canal, a square of turf boxed in by brick on three sides. Fantastic Lawn treats those pieces like they count — mowed at midday between deliveries, trimmed along every foundation and post, blown clean so nothing washes down a storm drain. Small yards are unforgiving, since there is nowhere for a missed strip to hide, and that is precisely what makes finishing one satisfying. Add the beds, the shrubs and the seasonal clearing, and a narrow patch of green starts holding its own against a great deal of concrete. In the middle of Oklahoma City, a little tended lawn goes a long way.
