About Route 66 Turf and Trim

Route 66 still runs the length of Elk City, past the museum on the west end and out through wheat country toward the state line, and the frontages along it have been minding their curb appeal since the motor-court years. Route 66 Turf and Trim works that stretch and the neighborhoods behind it — mowing, trimming, edging along walks and sign bases, and clearing clippings so nothing tracks out onto the asphalt. A cut isn't finished until the blower says it is, and that last part is what registers on somebody driving past at thirty-five. Grass on the old highway grows fast in June and stubborn in September; either way it gets held to the same line. The work follows the road to Canute, Sayre and Erick.
