North of town, past Sorghum Mill and out toward Waterloo, November mornings come in with frost across the pasture and the yards holding their last green in the shade. Switzers Lawn Care closes the year out there — final mows, leaves hauled off the turf, beds cut back, drives and walks swept clear. Where fescue holds the north side of a house it gets overseeded in the fall, so spring has something to start from. Through the warm months the work is mowing, edging and trimming on the same day each week, without much fuss about it. There is a particular quiet to a yard that has been put to bed properly before winter.
