About Turf Scapes

February in Claremore is all bare structure — dormant turf gone the color of straw, red dirt showing through at the edges, frost holding in the shade of the blackjacks until nearly noon. Turf Scapes reads a lawn best in that season, when nothing is hidden and every ragged border and leaf-choked corner shows plainly. The year's work starts there with cleanups and leaf removal, then rolls into mowing, trimming and edging as green-up comes on through March and April. Watching a brown yard fill in behind a mower, week by week, is one of the better things about this line of work. By the time the oaks leaf out, the lines are set for the whole season.
